“In the Post”

It is a sunny Los Angeles day and I am coming back from the Los Angeles Athletic Club having had a fun and strong ballet class, filled with coffee and joy. I check the mail and find materials for my collages as well as the latest cover of Artforum stuffed, folded to fit into the box.  As I pull it out the papers explode out of the small space but surrounding it I see my artwork on the cover of Artforum! The image is clear, distinctly mine, very positive and artful! Joy Joy! I feel so much joy! My work is on the cover of Artforum! The cover of the Artforum logo and text are positioned over the top left corner of the cover of Artforum and under the logo on the left is my name, “GRETCHEN ANDREW.”  

I am so excited to show Abraham at the door.  He gives me a sly smile. I run it up to the 3rd floor to share with Penny & D.  D says, “a toast!” We almost forget to look inside. I am on the cover of Artforum.  Most contemporary art galleries advertise in one periodical only, The cover of Artforum,” whose circulation of 38,500 is highly targeted. 

It is so glossy! The cover of Artforum with my work on it is so glossy! 

I feel successful, happy, excited, motivated.  I smile!

I am on my way home from a fun night with my friends Lindsay, Josh, and Susan.  As I enter The Reserve Ceaser stops me and hands me an Amazon package with a magazine ontop.  He smiles slyly.
